The zkSync Era Ethereum Layer-2 scaling protocol has celebrated its anniversary by showcasing its performance in its final year of entry into the L2 arena.
Using the Twitter platform, the protocol said it has made many progress since its founding on March 24, 2023, including delivering the ZK Stack, a modular foundation for creating sovereign hyperchains.
Significant progress
Over the past year, zkSync Era has implemented the Boojum Proof system to help its validators reduce hardware needs. This is due to the fact that Layer-2 scaling solutions are specifically intended to assist with transaction throughput, an area where Ethereum often fails.
The number of transactions per second (TPS) surpassed 188 during the 2023 Inscription Event, which was a notable performance milestone. The largest Code4rena audit competition, which zkSync also held, had a prize pool of almost $1.1 million.
According to analytics platform L2Beat, zkSync Era currently ranks third for L2 performance, with an average TPS of 16.23, up 16.94% from the past week. In the last seven days alone, zkSync Era has processed 37.77 million transactions.
The newly released Ethereum Dencun Upgrade seems to have benefited the Ethereum L2 in a big way. The protocol was already easier to use than it was a year before its unveiling, when transaction prices on zkSync Era dropped to just one cent. Looking to the future, zkSync Era lays out its next big goal: putting its full focus on the Zero Knowledge (ZK) component of its vision.
