According to event reports, Yat Siu will attend the Global Blockchain Show in Dubai on December 12 and 13. Yat has been passionate about technology and finance since the beginning and believes that the future of the internet lies in decentralization.
Yat Siu highlights the key advancements of crypto
Yat Siu’s position on the shift to decentralization is shaped by Animoca’s involvement with Web3 and all that the ecosystem encompasses. With Animoca, Yat has been behind games including The Sandbox, Crazy Kings and Crazy Defense Heroes.
Currently in a podcast Focusing on the Global Blockchain Show, Yat dives into his love for gaming and how it’s all connected on-chain. He got into the industry through CryptoKitties and how that later influenced Ethereum trading.
He adds: “The cool thing about this was that we were essentially breading cats on a chain […] at the time, NFTs and ERC-721 were weird terms that a lot of people had never heard of.” As strange as it was, people made purchases, and that ushered in a new era in crypto.
He argues that NFTs give traders industrial status, much like a Picasso, a Rolex watch or a Lamborghini would. Yat is into the idea that NFTs and the metaverse aren’t dead; rather, they moved on to something else: memecoins.
He adds: “I would say that in 2021 – 2022, NFTs are memecoins today. Many of the constructs of ideas that we have today with NFTs, whether they are cultural, social, or with some economic value, are actually the same story that we have today with memecoins.”
He states that the only difference is that memcoins have more economic value than NFTs. Also, NFTs introduced their own tokens to gain more reach, and now memecoins are introducing their NFTs for the same reason: reach and adoption.
Fun fact – Yat Siu expects that memcoins will soon launch their own metaverses, completely abandoning Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse vision.
