Gaming giant Ubisoft is set to launch a 10,000 unit NFT collection on Ethereum scaling network Arbitrum in the coming weeks via the Magical Eden marketplace. These NFTs will allow holders to play the upcoming top-down shooter Captain Laserhawk: The GAME asked.
The competitive multiplayer game is set in a fascist dystopian world, inspired by the Netflix series ‘Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix’ – which itself was inspired by Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon game – and promises iconic characters from Assassin’s Creed, Raymanand Beyond Good and Evil.
Excited Ethereum layer-2 scale network Arbitrationthe new Niji Warrior ID NFTs will grant early access to the top-down shooter, allowing participation in the game management model and track the player’s progress. As a player’s score increases, the NFT evolves, unlocking new benefits and increasing the influence of their board. Holders can also earn rewards and unlock user-generated content, although exactly how this will work hasn’t been detailed yet.
“By integrating Web3, we are empowering our community to not only play, but shape the future of gaming,” Didier Genevois, Web3 Executive Producer at Ubisoft, said in a release. “It’s about creating a collaborative ecosystem where players’ decisions and creations directly impact the evolution of the game, making the experience truly their own.”
This collaboration also marks the beginning of Arbitration support on the Magical Eden NFT marketplace. Previously, Magical Eden has supported Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, PolygonAnd Base projects.
Captain Laserhawk: The GAME was announced by Ubisoft in August and was described as a “transmedia experience” with the “first activation and core” of the project to be built on Arbitrum. It was also revealed that the story will be influenced and shaped by the community through Web3 governance. Users can access this feature via the soon-to-be-released Niji Warrior ID.

This announcement comes after a closed beta period at the end of August, although there is scant footage online. Discord users claim this is because beta participants have signed a non-disclosure agreement not to leak photos, videos or information. From the limited footage found on Twitterthe game looks lively and full of tight choke points where players will duke it out.
The new 10,000-piece NFT collection will go into production in the coming weeks, with thousands of potential minters having already secured spots on the eligibility list by participate in the beta and completing Discord challenges. The ID currency is the last milestone on the roadmap before the game’s release, meaning Captain Laserhawk: The GAME won’t be far away.
Captain Laserhawk: The GAME is Ubisoft’s second full-fledged blockchain game after Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which is built on the Oasys network and has also released NFTs on Ethereum. Champions Tactics recently held a “technical beta test” ahead of its upcoming public release.
However, the publisher behind Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance has been building and investing in the crypto space for years, releasing in-game NFTs for its Ghost Recon: Breakpoint game on Tezos in late 2021.
