The non-fungible token (NFT) collection backed by President-elect Donald Trump launched the first 160 items, the ‘Trump Bitcoin Digital Trading Cards’, on Bitcoin (BTC) using the Ordinals protocol.

Users who purchased the 100 “Mugshot Edition” NFT cards and submitted their Bitcoin wallet are eligible to claim through NFT marketplace Magic Eden. Users had hit 19 of the 119 available ordinal numbers at the time of writing, with the claim period lasting until January 31.

Ordinals create unique assets on the Bitcoin blockchain by inscribing data on individual satoshis, the smallest unit of BTC. The Trump Bitcoin Digital Trading Cards used ‘Alpha sats’, the first satoshis of a Bitcoin block.

Users have already done that six listed Trump-inspired Ordinals on Magic Eden, with the lowest floor price currently at 0.25 BTC, while the most expensive Ordinal from the collection costs 9.8 BTC.

Although the Ordinals market cooled in late May 2024, with monthly average Ordinals enrollments ranging from 13,000 to 35,000 through November, it started to accelerate again towards the end of the year.

According to Dune Analytics dashboard per user data Always, the monthly average of the ordinal inscriptions last month ranged from 54,000 to 92,000.

Track record

While this is the first Ordinals collection tied to Trump, the president-elect has a track record with NFTs and has launched several collections over the years, including four ‘Trump Digital Trading Cards’ series, featuring photos of him holding BTC and doing his infamous dance.

The latest edition, launched in August 2024 and called ‘America First’, it included no fewer than eleven benefits, such as Trump-themed gold sneakers and dinner with Trump. According to the NFT Price Floor aggregator, users have not yet traded their items from this collection.
