February 17, 2025 – Tether, the largest company in the digital assets industry, today has announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOU) with the government of the Republic Guinea. This strategic cooperation is intended to explore blockchain and peer-to-peer technologies, the ability to stimulate economic growth and position the country as a leader in the digital transformation of Africa.
De Mou emphasizes the dedication of Tether to support the acceptance of blockchain worldwide, in accordance with his mission to promote innovation, education and the responsible use of digital assets. This initiative goes beyond traditional learning by laying a strong foundation for sustainable success.
De Mou wants to concentrate on education, innovation and sustainable technology practices and at the same time facilitate the transfer of international knowledge and best practices to Guinea. It hopes to establish the basis for the approval of blockchain technologies through the country and an environment that is conducive to innovation. An important element of this initiative is the possible development of blockchain expertise and education in collaboration with Cité des Sciences et de L’Ontée de Guinée (City of Science and Innovation of Guinea). Educational programs would be introduced in the public and private sectors of Guinea to increase awareness, build skills and to cultivate local talent in digital technologies.
Tether wants to support Guinea’s Innovation City project, an initiative designed to strengthen the position of the country as a leader in the digital economy by creating a dynamic space for technology, research and entrepreneurship to thrive. These efforts correspond to the broader goals of the government to promote economic growth and to promote technological innovation.
This MOU would build on the established Tether Track Record to collaborate with governments and institutions to promote the responsible acceptance of blockchain technology. Tether’s earlier involvement in initiatives such as the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano, Switzerland, the Forum shows its dedication to promoting blockchain acceptance and education worldwide. Other important initiatives are the stimulation of digital assets education in Türkiye, developing blockchain and peer-to-peer telecommunication infrastructure in Uzbekistan to promote innovation and growth, and educational initiatives on Bitcoin and Stablecoins in the Ras Al Khaimah region.
