A Bitcoin Ordinals project said that it aims to pick up more than $ 34 million from an art collection of Microsoft Paint-Style Cartoon Wizards after a similar sale last year that yielded $ 13 million.
Taproot Wizards plans to auction 2,121 non-fungal tokens (NFTs) of his characteristic “Magic Internet JPEGS”, who return to a Bitcoin-Meme from 2013: “Magic Internet Money”, according to an e-mail statement. The wizards were registered on the Bitcoin -Blockchain two years ago and are now made available for sale.
The project sold a collection of 3000 “Quantum Cats” last year to provide support to the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) on_Cat. Although it is marred by technical problems, the collection was quickly sold out, so that 300 BTC was collected.
From March 25, the wizards will initially be offered to buyers on a white list for 0.2 BTC ($ 16,000), whereby a Dutch auction is not sold. The starting price will be higher than 0.2 BTC and will be unveiled closer to the auction, a spokesperson told Coindesk in a telegram message.
If all 2,121 NFTs sell for 0.2 BTC, the project would yield around $ 34 million based on the current price of Bitcoin of around $ 80,000.
On_cat was included in the original Bitcoin code by pseudonymous founder Satoshi Nakamoto, who then removed it because of ensuring that it could expose the network to risks such as a denial-of-service (DOS) attack.
Developers have tried to reduce the smart contract functionality in Ethereum style, making the utility possible, contributing considerably to the original blockchain.
The goal of Taproot Wizards is to “meme on_cat back in existence”, through initiatives such as the NFT sales, it said. Last month the project collected $ 30 million in financing for building an ecosystem of applications using on_cat.
