The Stablecoin Blockchain From USDC Issuer Circle https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-arc-the-stablecoin-blockchain-from-usdc-issuer-circle/ https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-arc-the-stablecoin-blockchain-from-usdc-issuer-circle/#respond Fri, 18 Sep 2026 23:36:56 +0000 https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-arc-the-stablecoin-blockchain-from-usdc-issuer-circle/ Circle, the company known for issuing the USDC stablecoin, recently unveiled a groundbreaking blockchain platform called Arc. This platform, which went live to the public on September 16, 2026, is specifically tailored to support stablecoin-based applications.

Stablecoins are digital tokens whose value is pegged to traditional fiat currencies like the US dollar. As the adoption of stablecoins has been steadily increasing, Circle recognized the need for a blockchain infrastructure that could cater to the unique requirements of stablecoin transactions on a large scale.

Rachel Mayer, the VP of Product Management at Circle, explained that feedback from enterprises and developers highlighted the necessity for predictable costs, deterministic settlement finality, and privacy features that comply with regulatory standards. To address these concerns, Circle set out to create Arc, a blockchain platform that aims to revolutionize stablecoin finance.

One of the key distinguishing features of Arc is its use of USDC as the native gas for transactions. By utilizing a stablecoin backed by real-world assets, Arc eliminates the volatility associated with using speculative tokens to pay for transaction fees. This model ensures that fees remain stable and predictable, denominated in USDC and directed to an on-chain Arc Treasury.

In addition to its fee structure, Arc boasts a robust consensus mechanism powered by Malachite, a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) engine based on Tendermint. Validator selection is permissioned, prioritizing operational resilience, geographic diversity, and regulatory compliance. Notable industry players like BlackRock, Mastercard, and Visa are among the validators running the network, emphasizing the network’s commitment to security and compliance.

Furthermore, Arc’s design enables instant and irreversible transaction settlement, known as deterministic finality, which enhances the efficiency and reliability of transactions on the platform. This feature, combined with optional privacy controls and interoperability with traditional financial systems, positions Arc as a cutting-edge solution for stablecoin-focused applications.

Several prominent institutions and ecosystem partners have already joined the Arc network, leveraging its stablecoin-optimized infrastructure for a wide range of financial activities. From lending and trading to payments and collateralization, Arc supports a diverse array of services provided by leading industry players like Aave, Uniswap, and Binance.

In summary, Circle’s Arc platform represents a significant milestone in the evolution of blockchain technology, specifically tailored to meet the demands of stablecoin finance. With its innovative approach to gas fees, settlement finality, and consensus mechanisms, Arc is poised to drive the next wave of innovation in the stablecoin ecosystem. DTCC, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, has announced plans to enable the tokenization of assets held in its custody on the network. This move, however, is not expected to happen until the second half of 2027. This development will mark a significant step forward in the digitization of traditional assets, allowing for greater efficiency and accessibility in the financial industry.

One of the key components of this initiative is the ARC token, which will play a central role in the coordination mechanism of the Arc network as it transitions to a proof-of-stake consensus model. The ARC token will be used to incentivize validators who maintain the network and process transactions. Stakers of ARC tokens will also receive benefits such as discounted transaction rates and preferential access to ecosystem partners.

Circle, the company behind the Arc network, recently published the Arc white paper outlining the details of the ARC token and its role within the network. The initial supply of ARC tokens is set at 10 billion, with new tokens expected to be issued at an annual rate of 2-3%. The long-term goal is to achieve “inflation neutrality” as the network grows and evolves.

In addition to the ARC token, Arc also offers tools for AI agents to transact independently on the network. These tools include agent wallets, spending limits, and nanopayments. Circle has reported that USDC, the stablecoin issued by Circle, accounts for a significant portion of agent-driven transaction volume on the network.

Arc also includes a modular privacy system designed to balance compliance with confidentiality. This system allows institutions to selectively disclose data to regulators or auditors using view keys. Over time, Arc plans to support additional privacy features such as zero-knowledge proofs, multi-party computation, and fully homomorphic encryption.

With the launch of the ARC token and the development of the Arc network, Circle aims to strengthen the broader multichain ecosystem and unlock new use cases and institutional liquidity on-chain. By connecting fiat and USDC across multiple blockchains, Circle’s tools aim to provide seamless and efficient cross-chain transfers for users and developers.

Overall, the launch of the ARC token and the development of the Arc network represent a significant milestone in the blockchain ecosystem. With its focus on tokenizing traditional assets and providing privacy features for institutions, Arc has the potential to become a key player in the evolving digital economy. Arc, a blockchain startup focused on creating a purpose-specific chain for programmable, compliant financial operations, has recently secured a significant investment of $75 million in a funding round led by VC firm Andreessen Horowitz. Other participants in this round include BlackRock and Apollo Funds, signaling strong support from major players in the investment space.

The goal of Arc is to expand the utility of stablecoins beyond simple payments and into real-time settlement, tokenization, and global capital. By providing a platform that is specifically designed for these types of financial operations, Arc aims to address the growing demand for more sophisticated blockchain solutions in the market.

According to Arc CEO, regulatory clarity is a key driver for institutional adoption of blockchain technology. By ensuring that their platform is compliant with existing regulations and designed to meet the needs of enterprise clients, Arc is positioning itself as a leader in the space.

The recent funding round will enable Arc to further develop their platform and expand their reach in the market. With the support of top investors like Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, and Apollo Funds, Arc is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the world of blockchain technology.

Circle’s CRCL Arc Blockchain Goes Live with Major Players

Circle’s CRCL Arc blockchain went live on Wednesday with a strong lineup of founding validators, including BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, and DTCC. CEO Jeremy Allaire hailed the launch as the most significant in the company’s history since the introduction of USDC itself.

Within the first 24 hours, the chain processed an impressive 7.83 million transactions. However, the majority of these transactions were not payments. Lifetime USDC transfers on the platform currently stand at approximately 624,000. Additionally, over 400,000 new accounts were created, and more than 73,000 contracts were deployed. The average fees on the platform saw a fourfold increase, now standing at three cents.

Despite the promising start, memecoins flooded the blocks, causing some traders to express skepticism about the platform’s future.

“Arc is only one day old, and every coin is already experiencing significant drops of 50-80%,” trader wale.moca commented on X. When asked about the potential for recovery, he responded, “It’s cooked.” Another user referred to the situation as a “one-day arc.”

Memecoins listed on Arc are reflecting this negative sentiment, with TOLLY down 56%, LONG down 77%, and COOL down 75% from their launch highs.

The Decentralized Exchange With Its Own Blockchain https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-hyperliquid-the-decentralized-exchange-with-its-own-blockchain/ https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-hyperliquid-the-decentralized-exchange-with-its-own-blockchain/#respond Tue, 15 Sep 2026 23:30:34 +0000 https://bitcoinplatform.com/what-is-hyperliquid-the-decentralized-exchange-with-its-own-blockchain/ Hyperliquid has emerged as a powerhouse in the world of decentralized exchanges, specializing in perpetual futures trading. Since its inception in 2023, the platform has processed trillions of dollars in volume, solidifying its position as one of the largest DEXs in the cryptocurrency space.

The project’s success can be attributed to its innovative approach to trading and its ability to attract institutional interest. Hyperliquid offers a wide range of assets for traders to speculate on, with low fees and high leverage options making it an attractive option for both experienced and novice traders.

One of the key factors driving Hyperliquid’s popularity is its ability to cater to a diverse range of traders, offering a seamless trading experience for both retail and institutional investors. The platform’s user-friendly interface and robust security measures have helped it attract over 1.2 million users since its launch.

Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, has also been a major success story, rising to become a top 10 cryptocurrency by market capitalization. This success has further solidified Hyperliquid’s position as a major player in the crypto market.

The platform’s origin story is equally impressive, with founder Jeff Yan leading a small team of 11 individuals to build Hyperliquid from the ground up. Rejecting venture capital funding in favor of focusing on delivering value to users, the team’s dedication and vision have paid off, propelling Hyperliquid to its current status as a market leader.

In a landscape where trust in centralized exchanges has been shaken by high-profile scandals, Hyperliquid’s commitment to decentralization and security has set it apart as a reliable and trustworthy platform for traders. The collapse of FTX and subsequent shift towards decentralized finance served as a catalyst for Hyperliquid’s evolution into a decentralized exchange, marking a turning point in the industry.

As Hyperliquid continues to grow and evolve, its impact on the cryptocurrency market is undeniable. With a solid foundation, a loyal user base, and a commitment to innovation, Hyperliquid is well-positioned to remain a dominant force in the world of decentralized exchanges for years to come. Hyperliquid, the decentralized exchange that hit full mainnet in August of a certain year, has experienced significant growth and challenges since its inception. Following a massive $1.6 billion airdrop in November 2024, Hyperliquid quickly rose to prominence as one of the largest crypto airdrops in history.

However, the platform has not been without its obstacles. In December 2024, Hyperliquid came under scrutiny from North Korean hackers looking for vulnerabilities. A few months later, the exchange faced a liquidation crisis and had to delist a Solana meme coin due to a trader’s risky bet that could have led to significant losses for the Hyperliquid Foundation.

These incidents raised concerns about how the exchange handled highly leveraged positions, with some likening it to “FTX 2.0.” Additionally, regulatory scrutiny has been a challenge for Hyperliquid, with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority issuing warnings about the unauthorized activities of Hyperliquid and the Hyper Foundation in May 2026.

Despite these challenges, Hyperliquid has continued to grow and evolve. In September 2025, the platform launched its own stablecoin, USDH, which has since gained a market capitalization of approximately $21.4 million. The stablecoin’s revenue-sharing model directs earnings to various funds and initiatives aimed at fostering liquidity and adoption within the Hyperliquid ecosystem.

In addition to the launch of USDH, Hyperliquid has introduced several major upgrades to its platform. The HIP-3 upgrade in October 2025 allowed third parties to create and operate their own perpetual futures exchanges using Hyperliquid’s infrastructure. In February 2026, the HIP-4 upgrade introduced outcome markets, enabling prediction markets and event-based derivatives on the protocol.

Hyperliquid’s expansion into traditional markets and real-world assets has attracted institutional interest, with companies like Bitwise and 21Shares filing for HYPE exchange-traded funds. The platform has also processed substantial volume in pre-IPO markets for companies such as SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI.

As Hyperliquid continues to grow and establish itself in the crypto space, its next challenge may come from traditional financial institutions entering the perpetual futures market. Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeffrey Sprecher has hinted at the possibility of regulated U.S. exchanges offering similar products to those found on Hyperliquid, signaling a potential shift in the competitive landscape for decentralized exchanges.

Overall, Hyperliquid’s journey has been marked by both successes and challenges, but its position as the eighth-largest DeFi chain by TVL according to CoinGecko underscores its significance in the crypto ecosystem. With its innovative products and growing user base, Hyperliquid is poised to continue making waves in the world of decentralized finance. Kalshi has recently launched Bitcoin perpetual futures in the United States, making it easier for traders to access this popular cryptocurrency. At the same time, Coinbase is expanding institutional access to global perpetual futures markets, providing even more opportunities for investors to capitalize on the volatility of digital assets.

In a bold move, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes predicted that Wall Street firms and major exchanges would soon follow suit and launch their own competing perpetual futures products. This could potentially shake up the market and provide traders with even more options for leveraging their positions.

Hyperliquid, a key player in the on-chain perpetuals space, has been leading the way in this market. However, as traditional exchanges start to enter the fray, the competition is heating up. The big question now is whether Hyperliquid can maintain its edge and continue to dominate the market as more players enter the scene.

As the landscape of perpetual futures continues to evolve, it’s clear that the demand for these innovative financial products is only going to increase. With more options becoming available to traders, the market is set to become even more dynamic and competitive. It will be interesting to see how Hyperliquid and other players in the space adapt to these changes and continue to provide value to their users.
