Status (SNT), known for its decentralized communication platform since 2017, has launched the first Native Gasless Layer 2 network on TestNet. Built on the Linea ZKEVM rollup of Consensys, removes the new status network transaction costs and introduces a community-oriented return allocation system.
Instead of recharging gas costs, the status converts bridged ETH and Stablecoins into proceeds of assets such as Steth and Sdai. This yield, together with reimbursements of native applications, fund builders and liquidity providers. The model is intended to attract users and deposits, creating a self -sufficient cycle where a higher activity generates more yields for the ecosystem. In anticipation of the approval of the board, part of this proceeds can also support SNT token purchasing and burns.
The status network is designed for use cases in gaming, social apps and Defi. Early apps include a mobile RPG, an Onchain Gacha game and a metaare casino, planned with more Defi tools.
The V1 test network is now live and supports completely gasless transactions. A second test network version with spam protection and revenue robbery is planned for October 2025. Mainstet launch is expected in Q1 2026.
