Ripple CTO David Schwartz recently announced that he took a step back from his role as Chief Technology Officer of Ripple, who caused reactions from the XRP and a broader crypto community.
An X user, in response to the announcement of Schwartz of his resignation, begged the Ripple CTO to “continue to work on coil.”
Keep working on “coil”, it is still part of something great

COIL is a platform that offers an alternative method for makers to earn their content online. As subscribed fans consume content, the platform used an open API called Web Monetization to immediately stream Micropayments to makers. The API was built on the Interledger protocol, created by former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas. The rinsing platform will be vaccinated in 2023.
Ripple CTO weighs in
In response to the request of the X user to continue the development of the coil, Ripple CTO David Schwartz revealed the hard truth: “We have stalled a bit. The issue is interesting.”
SCHWARTZ further explained the problem with the help of the context of E -mail. He noted that E -Mail really has two different functions that are logically separated.
First, it has a universal name space based on domain names. Secondly, it has a Universal Exchange Protocol, SMTP. Schwartz explained the problem and said, “You can imagine a system that only one of these things had and not the other. First, with neither of them, things would be bad.”
“COIL wanted Interledger Protocol (ILP) as E -mail -a universal name space and a universal protocol with guaranteed interoperability,” said Schwartz, adding “The problem is that a universal protocol for money with guaranteed interoperability is not practical.”
SCHWARTZ added: “Yes, ILP is a protocol and usually what you care, people use ILP to move money. But it must be besides other payment methods and people who have other ways to pay on board with ILP -end points do not seem to be necessary.”
Ripple’s Paystring -A universal name space for end points of payments that can support XRPL addresses, ILP addresses, Bitcoin addresses, retention accounts on exchanges, PayPal and Zelle, was not developed in response, but it was not a guarantee for interoperability.
“A big blocker in the past was legal obstacles for cross system payments outside the self-spice space. I am not sure if that has become better or is still a problem,” Schwartz added.
