Web3 domain service Unstoppable Domains (UD) today announced that Pudgy Penguins’ ‘.pudgy’ domain is the next top-level domain (TLD) to become ‘Web2’ and become equivalent to domains like ‘.com’. This step is made feasible through a partnership between UD and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
After the Pudgy Penguins-related ‘.pudgy’ domain successfully launched in February as Unstoppable’s 10th Web3 domain, the brand began developing a strategy with UD for the upcoming registration of .pudgy as an ICANN registered generic top-level domain (gTLD), alongside iconic old addresses like .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info and others.

Additionally, other brands and cities will also be able to work with UD to extend the reach of their existing web3 domains to enable a low-cost integrated naming solution ahead of the next ICANN round.
