Global call for artists: that work in inspired by the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations that must be stored on the moon surface
Miami, FL – April 29, 2025 – Polkadot has joined Bitbasel’s Art for Impact Space Program, a visionary initiative that invites artists to create work inspired by the 17 Sustainable Development objectives (SDGs) of the United Nations for recording.
This unique program is part of the GLPH (Galactic Library Preserve Humanity) Archival Payload, set to the upcoming Astrobotic Griffin -1 Lunar Mission under NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. With the help of nanofiche, a space quality technology that is designed to endure the extreme conditions of the space will be kept selected for billions of years on the Moon as a proof of human creativity, goal and inheritance.
Polkadot, one of the most powerful and durable blockchain ecosystems in Web3, joins Bitbasel when collecting makers around the world to contribute visual works that reflect on one or more of the 17 SDGs, including climate action, quality education, gender equality, clean energy and sustainable innovation.
Submissions must be representative if still images and can include digital art, photography, illustration, painting or mixed media. Artists are encouraged to make documents that not only present their talent, but also cause a global consciousness and inspire future generations.
A curation committee consisting of representatives of Bitbasel, Polkadot, GLPH and the University of Florida Blockchain Lab will evaluate submissions and select the last group of works of art that must be included in the lunar -bound archive. Selected artists will be formally recognized as part of this historical cultural and space mission.
“This is a unique opportunity for artists to etch their values in history,” said Scott Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Bitbasel. “With the support of Polkadot, we expand the reach of this mission in the Web3 ecosystem and beyond. The Moon is the canvas, and together we send a message that art can stimulate consciousness, action and inheritance.”
The submission period is 9 May 2025 and the selected works will launch a SpaceX rocket later this year.
