Popular beverage brand and notable sports/esports sponsor Mtn Dew is making its way into the Decentraland metaverse. Mtn Dew will take over Decentraland from July 14 to 17, along with PepsiCo Labs, esports powerhouse NYXL and the Call of Duty League (CDL). Basically, the fan event will be a live viewing party for the New York Subliners Major IV CDL tournament.
All about the Mtn Dew x NYXL experience in Decentraland
Significantly, the The MTN DEW-branded virtual space in Decentraland from July 14 to 17 is Mtn Dew’s first foray into the metaverse. For four days, MTN DEW and esports fans can watch a livestream of the New York Subliners Major IV tournament. Plus, there will be some Mtn Dew curated vibes for fans to enjoy once the action is over.
“The Decentraland event is about our commitment to connecting with DEW Nation in new and creative ways,” said Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN DEW. O’Toole continued:
“This event works because MTN DEW fans tell us they are always looking for opportunities to engage with the brand, and Web3 opens up completely new ways to do that. We think fans will like what they see, and there’s more to come.”
The immersive MTN DEW and NYXL experience Decentraland, will feature not only the New York Subliners, but all participating CDL teams. In addition to the competition, there are a number of great activations. To mention, these include DEW themed wearables and virtual mini games. However, some of the prizes offered really take the cake.
To explain, fans have a chance to win an RTFKT Clone X NFT. Also offered is a VIP trip to the 2022 CDL Champs Tournament in Los Angeles in August. If you want to join in, you can find rules and details here.
Decentraland is still a popular metaverse for major brands
As many will know, Decentraland is one of the most popular and active metaverses right now. In fact, Decentraland and its main competitor, The Sandbox, are often the metaverses of choice. Not only when it comes to metaverse land investors, but also for brands looking to enter the metaverse.
Some of the major brands and celebrities that have had activations in Decentraland before Mtn Dew include: Skechers, Vice, JP Morgan, Jason Derulo and The Migos. Similarly, Decentraland also hosted the very first tennis Grand Slam in the metaverse: the AO Decentraland.
It’s safe to say that Mtn Dew is in safe hands with Decentraland when it comes to joining web3. Actually, The Mtn Dew and NYXL Decentraland event is the first in a series of Web3 activations that Mtn Dew parent company PepsiCo will pursue in the future.
