A growing number of legislators have discussed Crypto on Capitol Hill, but how many representatives have actually received hands-on from the technology?
Rep. William Timmons (R-SC) to participate in a South Carolina voter, who helped the Republican to put his own digital wallet last week. Use of the Ethereum Name Serviceaka Ens, rep. Timmons has effectively initiated his self -herb wallet “Wrtiv.eth”.
The aim was to become any familiar with technology that made financial sovereignty possible, Timmons said Decrypt On Tuesday. The day before he added the adapted address of his wallet to his Profile on X (previously known as Twitter), to tackle it at the end of the description of his profile.

“We can read legislation, we can try to understand the policy, but experiencing is also important,” Timmons said. “Placing ‘.eth’ in my Twitter bio was the least that I could do to show that I am trying to help solve this challenge that lies in front of us.”
The challenge that is referred to is the hen and passing of one Series of crypto-related accounts That could clarify the regulatory background of the industry, whether that is legislation for Stablecoins or an account of the market structure in which it is explained how different agencies should monitor the space.
As a member of the subcommittee for digital assets, financial technology and inclusion – or simple digital assets, as legislators refer to it – Timmons said that he will collaborate with other legislators. He wants to build on dual support for financial innovation and technology for the 21st -century law, or Fit21, passed Last year.
“We may adjust it a bit, add some other legislation and ensure that we still have two -part support,” he said. “There has been a lot of education that occurred on both sides of the aisle, and I think everyone understands its importance in the future.”
Last year, Timmons entered The new frontiers in Technology (NFT) Act next to Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY). The bill would define and determine “covered NFTs”, which are protected against legal and regulatory treatment such as digital collecting objects or artworks.
Timmon’s decision to add ‘.eth’ to the description of his X profile was not related to bull posting of the president’s son, he said. On Monday, Eric Trump said On X: “In my opinion it is a good time to add $ ETH. You can thank me later. “
Instead, Timmon’s was approached by Brant Millegan, a 10-year-old veteran of the crypto room who previously served as director of operations for Ens. Millegan told Decrypt He has announced Timmons for years.
“Crypto has become an important policy issue and he not only wanted to hear about it, but really try it himself,” he said. “I hope that more people in the congress will follow his example.”
Until now, the experience on Timmons chains has been limited, which indicates a feeling of Regulatory uncertainty Under benches that he experienced firsthand.
“I learned that my bank doesn’t like it,” he said. “I tried to put on money and take money, and I can’t.”
