The Anti-Graftbureau of Malaysia says that it turns to blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) to combat corruption and fraud.
Malaysian anti-corruption committee (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam noted that criminals use increasingly sophisticated tools to perform corruption and fraud, and the government must benefit from the latest emerging technologies to keep track of.
Azam spoke at the 3rd international conference on technology, humanities and management in Fuvahmulah, Maldives, where he abuses ‘crypto’ fraud and scams, cyber crime and AI as some of the more challenging sectors for regulators in the digital age.
“Technological progress can actually be used with the use of AI, including its use from the aspect of data analysis, as well as blockchain technology,” Azam explained, as reported by local points of sale.
“Blockchain provides unchanging transaction records, while AI data analysis improves, making fraud patterns and financial irregularities possible,” he added in his Keynote speech.
Blockchain has been presented as one of the most effective technologies to combat transplantation in the public sector. In addition to his unchanging records, which limit manipulation, Blockchain’s transparent ledger increases accountability. The technology also offers smart contracts that make the automation of public service processes possible and reduce the chances for corruption.
In recent years, the Malaysian government has the efforts to stimulate the acceptance of blockchain. A week ago, Deputy Prime Minister Dieuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that the Blockchain government is investigating to improve digital security. Earlier this month, Prime Minister revealed Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Malaysia investigated blockchain and digital assets instructions and collaborated with the government of the United Arab Emirates to tap her expertise in the field.
Malaysia has also integrated blockchain into a new ecosystem of the digital identity, which is offered through the MyDigital ID -SUPERAPPAP. The app, which contains a digital wallet, also enables Malaysian companies to integrate their services and to tap the direct login function. It is built on top of the blockchain infrastructure of Malaysia, a National Blockchain network built and maintained by Mimos Berhad, the National Research and Development Center of the country.
