The founder of investment firm Morgan Creek Capital identifies what could serve as a huge catalyst for Bitcoin (BTC) and the overall crypto market in 2025.
In a new one interview at Fox Business, longtime crypto bull and influencer Anthony Pompliano says digital assets are coming of age and earning their place at the table when it comes to adoption by the traditional financial world.
“I think the big story of 2025 will be that crypto has now matured and is part of the traditional financial system. And there are pros and cons to that. But now we’re at the table – you saw that in the political arena in terms of donations and influence. But you are now also going to see it in the financial arena and I think that will be a huge tailwind for Bitcoin and crypto in 2025.”
According to Pompliano, Bitcoin will always remain the king of crypto and every argument for altcoins is a technological argument.
“I think Bitcoin is the king and will remain the king. The majority of capital flows from the traditional world go into Bitcoin. There will be other assets coming to market, you will obviously see the Ethereum (ETH) ETF being approved and you will probably see other assets being approved as well.
But the argument for something other than Bitcoin is a completely different argument: it is a technology argument. It’s no different than trying to choose between Google, Amazon and Facebook. The Bitcoin argument is much more like ‘Do I want to protect my purchasing power?’”
The executive further notes that the top crypto assets in terms of market capitalization will thrive regardless of whether the US can use it as a reserve asset or not. Last week, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell announced that the US is not legally allowed to hold BTC as an inverse asset and has no plans to change the law, causing the market to slump.
Bitcoin is trading at $94,108 at the time of writing, down 2.1% on the day.
