Vote postponed
This event coincides with the House of Representatives postponement their vote to override President Joe Biden’s veto of the SEC’s anti-crypto rule, SAB 121.
Originally scheduled for July 10, the vote has been moved to July 11, at approximately 10:30 am.
The postponement followed an urgent letter from President Biden asking the House to postpone the vote. However, the details of the letter are still unknown.
Representative Patrick McHenry, an outspoken critic of the SEC’s rule, expressed frustration over this issue, stating:
“We shouldn’t be doing business this way.”
Trump vs. Biden
These contrasting actions by the two presidential candidates highlight the divide between crypto voters.
On the one hand, Trump’s recent pro-crypto move is in line with his supportive stance, while on the other hand, Biden continues to take a tough stance on cryptocurrency as the elections approach.
Making the same comment on this, The Bitcoin Therapist went to X and said:
“Donald Trump is going to win the election and #Bitcoin is going to 150K next year. Nothing will stop this train.”
Impact on the memecoin and prediction market
This news also had a significant impact on the crypto meme market. At the time of writing, Trump-inspired memecoin Doland Tremp [TREMP] has risen 2.4% in the past 24 hours.
Conversely, the Biden-inspired memecoin Jeo Boden [BODEN] fell 16.7% in the same period, according to CoinGecko.
Additionally, Polymarkt Predictive market data on the ‘winner of the 2024 presidential election’ showed Trump in the lead with 62%, while Biden fell from 17% to 13%, lower than Kamala Harris who was at 14% in the last 24 hours.
