Co-founder of Reddit Alexis Ohanian today announced that he has joined the efforts to acquire Tiktok’s American activities and switch the platform to blockchain technology.
Exciting news for the digital world …
I am now officially one of the people who TIKTOK tries to buy us and bring it on chain.

The bid focuses on the implementation of frequency, a blockchain protocol with which users can control their data and content.
The proposal is intended to transform how the 170 million American users of Tiktok manage their digital presence.
“Frequency changes how social media can work – users who manage their own data,” wrote Ohanian on X.
The move is because bytedance is confronted with pressure to sell the American activities of Tiktok at the beginning of April, after a Biden Administration Act and the subsequent extension by President Trump via executive order.
The group of Ohanian, including “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary, competes with potential buyers such as Microsoft and Oracle.
“Imagine Tiktok with your audience and work on the chain, no intermediaries,” said Ohanian, who described his vision for the platform.
Bytedance did not confirm the plans to sell and McCourt recognized the absence of a clear appreciation or assets list.
Technical challenges continue to exist about the adaptation of the large -scale platform of Tiktok to blockchain infrastructure.
