The Pudgy penguins team helps fans celebrate Valentine’s Day in the real world with Pudgy Petals, a three-day immersive pop-up event in New York City that highlights gifting and connection through its colorful characters.
The activation will take place from February 12 to 14 and invites guests into the love story of Polly and Pengu (aka Pax), core characters in the Pudgy Penguins universe. The team told Declutter that the brand — which has expanded from NFTs to games, real-world toys and more — is using Valentine’s Day as a cultural entry point to continue translating its Internet-native IP into a broader brand.
At the center of the pop-up is the Pudgy Penguins Plush Bouquet ($49.99), an alternative to traditional flowers. The bouquet has soft characters and soft textures designed to last well beyond the holidays. An online delivery of the bouquet has already sold out, but it will also be available at the pop-up.

“The Plushie Bouquet marks our first Valentine’s Day expression,” said Steve Starobinsky, Director of Business Development for Pudgy Penguins Declutter. “The item is intentionally positioned as a long-lasting symbol of companionship, designed to be kept and revisited rather than thrown away after a few days, like traditional flowers or candy. This item embodies our goal of creating new rituals of affection that are rooted in meaning rather than tradition.”
The event includes on-site customization of bouquets with flash tattoos, free aura readings and photo booths for couples. There will also be pink and blue matcha drinks and treats outside the space.

The programming will shift a little every day. Thursday, February 12 coincides with both New York Fashion Week and the New York Toy Fair, tapping into a creative crowd already circulating in downtown Manhattan. Friday, February 13 is branded as Polly’s Galentine’s, with an emphasis on friendship and groups. And Saturday, February 14, it’s all about couples and classic Valentine’s Day moments, completely in the holiday spirit.
“Every detail of the pop-up was intentionally designed to encourage guests to linger, participate, document the experience and share it socially,” said Starobinsky. “The space will be inviting and joyful for all who participate.”
In addition to the Valentine’s theme, Pudgy Petals represents a broader brand evolution. Pudgy Penguins, which started as an internet-native phenomenon and $NFT project, continues its shift toward physical retail and experience spaces that don’t require familiarity with crypto. The pop-up prioritizes emotional storytelling and accessibility, rather than technology.
“We are a four-quadrant brand that appeals to adults and children, women and men, with categories like toys, gifts, lifestyle and experiential retail that attract people,” Starobinsky added.
The timing of the activation is equally strategic, with Starobinsky noting that the overlap with those other New York events “places Pudgy Penguins at the intersection of fashion, toys, pop culture and retail innovation.” And it won’t be the last V-Day event, he said.
“Pudgy Petals is not a one-time activation,” Starobinsky added. “We will expand this pop-up globally in 2027 and use it to launch more product capsules for this holiday.”
