Slovenia-based SaaS service Blocksquare and fractional investment platform Pieme today announced the launch of their joint marketplace pool. A new tool at the intersection of DeFi and RWA will change the way retail investors can participate in financing rounds in the hotel segment.

Beginning July 30, 2024, this Marketplace Pool financing round will leverage Blocksquare’s newly launched Oceanpoint DeFi launchpad to introduce fractional investment to the hospitality industry, increase inclusivity and democratize hotel financing.
Pieme’s management platform is tailor-made for a variety of investors interested in community-owned hotel residences, with entry-level investments starting at $150. Using blockchain, Pieme allows investors to monitor bookings, oversee stays and to participate in the industry. The platform also manages all operational, maintenance and marketing aspects of investments to enable streamlined project management.
In the third quarter of 2024, Pieme moves closer to the grand opening of its flagship hotel in Kampala, Uganda, with plans to expand to other African cities to leverage emerging markets for maximum growth potential.
As previously reported by U.Today, Blocksquare’s native utility token has been available on Banxa, a mainstream crypto and fiat transfer platform, since May 2024.
Fueling Africa’s real estate segment with Web3 tools
In the future, Oceanpoint marketplace pools will enable the creation and operation of other tokenized real estate marketplaces within the Blocksquare ecosystem.
Marketplace operators are encouraged to submit project proposals and gather community support through a democratic voting process. Community members then contribute their staked BST tokens (sBST) to support promising initiatives, obtained through participation in the Governance pool on Oceanpoint.fi.
The Pieme Marketplace Pool Campaign is an opportunity for the Blocksquare community to expand into hotel businesses and capitalize on Africa’s fast-growing real estate sector. This Marketplace Pool Round follows the quick sell-out of the previous Oceanpoint Launchpad campaign within 36 hours, and builds on the popularity of tokenized RWA real estate investments.
