Bitcoin Ordinals Keep Ethereum NFTs Hot With BRC-69

  • Several Bitcoin NFT collections recorded higher volumes than Ethereum.
  • Since BRC-69 came into play, Ordinals Inscriptions have increased.

Bitcoin ordinal numbersrepresenting the NFTs created on the Bitcoin [BTC] network, seems to be closing in on their Ethereum [ETH] counterparts in terms of dominance. By looking at CryptoSlam dataBitcoin NFT sales are up 8301% in the last 24 hours.

Realistic or not, here it is The market cap of ETH in BTC terms

This was in stark contrast to the volume on the Ethereum blockchain, which registered only a 1.33% increase over the same period. However, it was worth noting that Ethereum’s sales far outpaced Bitcoin’s.

Turning can be in motion

At the time of writing, total sales of digital collectibles on Ethereum totaled $14.75 million. On the other hand, Bitcoin NFTs registered $6.69 million. But that is not everything.

A standout industry event was how Bitcoin Ordinals had sent the blue-chip Ethereum NFTs off the top of the sale.

According to the NFT aggregator, collections including $INSC BRC-20 NFTs, Uncategorized Ordinals, and $BRC-20 NFTs had much more volume than those from Azuki, BAYC, and MAYC.

This reversal suggests that traders’ interest in Bitcoin NFTs has surpassed that of Ethereum. And a reason related to the latter inability claiming traction were the falling bottom prices of the top collections.

Previously, Ethereum held the mantle as the king of volume when it comes to NFTs. This was due to the appeal it gained during the mass adoption of 2021. But since the beginning of the year, collections under the blockchain have struggled to witness a steady, sustained rise.

And it was during the same period that Bitcoin Ordinals emerged. While there have been controversies over its operation on the Bitcoin network, the development supported by the Taproot network has become increasingly popular.

Another high on the cards

Meanwhile, Bitcoin Ordinals has not only limited its potential to the first application. Lately, the introduction of Inscriptions has led to the rise of BRC-20 replaceable tokens.

However, it was also important to highlight that these developments have caused some problems on the Bitcoin network.

In May, at the height of Ordinals adoption, Bitcoin experienced a slowdown in block confirmation and transactions. And this was one of the reasons why there was a conflict of interest between Bitcoin developers.

But last week, Luminex, a Bitcoin Ordinals launch pad, proposed the BRC-69 standard to curb this challenge.

According to Luminex, BRC-69with the integration of recursive inscriptions, would help with the high demand for Bitcoin Ordinals while avoiding transaction delay.

Since its introduction, other Ordinals inscriptions have appeared in addition to texts, audios, or applications. This has also resulted in the total number of daily registrations decreasing highest since May 7. According to Dune Analytics, the total number of inscriptions struck on July 9 was 385,920.
