Altcoin Season Index – What the figures show
The Altcoin Season Index (ASI) has fallen to levels that historically indicate the dominance of Bitcoin about the wider cryptomarkt. Because only 11 out of 57 followed Altcoins for the past 60 days performed better than Bitcoin, the index has decisively shifted to ‘Bitcoin Season’.
At the time of writing, the graph showed the steep fall in the Altcoin performance, in contrast with the continuing rise in Bitcoin.
Such a difference indicates Beerarish prospects in the short term for Altcoins. However, it is worth noting that earlier ASI dips were preceded by a strong Altcoin recovery, which increases the possibility of future opportunities.
Historical patterns and insights
Of the 57 Altcoins, only 11 have performed better in the last 60 days than Bitcoin, with XRP leading the way with a return of 117.3%, followed by Aave with 82.0%. However, a majority of the Altcoins have remained behind, whereby coins such as Eth and Pepe showed a remarkable decrease.
Historically, such a strong under performance has often preceded the recovery of Altcoin, because market trotations put capital back to alternative assets. Altcoins in particular with great capitalization, such as XRP and Aave, tend to act as leaders, which indicates the first signs of recovery.
Increasing public interest in Altcoins in the midst of market shifts
Page views for coins such as XRP, Ethereum and Dogecoin have also risen considerably, which correlates with periods of increased volatility on the cryptomarkt. While Bitcoin continues to dominate public attention, altcoins also enjoy remarkable interest.
This trend is crucial, because larger page views often identify an early phase of retail involvement – a precursor of potential market intake. It is remarkable that peaks in curiosity usually match speculative phases, which indicates that altcoins can get a grip again in the next growth cycle. This reinforces the story that Altcoins, despite their persistent under performance, remain on the radar of investors.

Bitcoin dominance and impact on altcoins-what now?
The increasing dominance of Bitcoin – of more than 50% – has tightened the liquidity for Altcoins, so that their undersized performance has been brought to the attention. Historically, such phases indicate a consolidation period for Altcoins, a period in which capital focuses on Bitcoin as a safe haven.
This dynamic often precedes an Altcoin recovery cycle, because investors eventually turn their profits into smaller assets. However, a persistent Bitcoin dominance could suppress the growth of the altcoins in the short term, which would maintain the Bearish sentiment.
In the future, the recovery of altcoins will depend on the stabilization of Bitcoin, improved macro conditions and renewed speculative interest. Although the risks continue to exist, historical patterns suggest that altcoins can recover greatly as soon as Bitcoin’s dominance starts to flatten.
