Ardrive, the storage platform built on the Arweave Blockchain, works together with NFT.nyc to help makers to permanently save their digital artworks. The data is stored in a decentralized manner that retains and protects proof of property against deletion or loss. With the help of Arweave’s Pay-Once, Store-Forever System, files that are uploaded via Ardrive cannot be removed or changed.
Most NFT art is not stored directly on a blockchain, making it vulnerable to censorship or are lost when the server goes offline. Ardrive solves this by placing the full content on the chain. The platform recently helped to restore Nike’s NFT collections after they had disappeared from centralized storage. It has also saved other well-known NFT projects, such as Crypttoadz, Degenerate APE Academy and Solana Monkey Business.
Ardrive has stored more than 18 million files in the last five years, including almost 2,000 pieces of digital art. These files are now blinking and verifiable. Since the number of NFT holders is expected to reach 12 million by the end of 2025, Ardrive promotes permanent digital storage as an important part of the growing market for digital art.
