When Victoria VR claims to be bringing a photorealistic metaverse VR game to the Apple Vision Pro at the end of June?
It feels like we’re being promised tickets to the Super Bowl again.
(We really hope we’re wrong).
The basic idea of the game is this:

‘Victoria’ is an island city with multiple photorealistic environments (think suburbs, city, forests, jungle, beach – feels very GTA tbh).

It has its own cryptocurrency (the ‘VR token‘), which players can spend on in-game items, entertainment and land.

There is a wide range of quests, challenges and battles to explore.
That sounds great, like the competition looks/feels like this. That being said…
Here’s why we’re not hopeful yet (at least for a mid-year release):

Apple wants a reduction in all in-game transactions, which means integrating Apple Pay, which doesn’t support crypto.

(The only problem is that the Apple Vision Pro won’t be available in Europe until late 2024).

We’ve been burned in the past by promises of ‘groundbreaking graphics’ and ‘upcoming releases’ by game studios, so we have a strict ‘we’ll believe it when we see it’ policy.
Fingers/toes/eyes crossed, this isn’t vaporware.
