Open Campus, known for its innovative approaches to decentralized education, recently received a significant grant from the Arbitrum Foundation. This grant will catalyze the development and launch of EDU Chain, the groundbreaking Layer 3 blockchain designed specifically for educational purposes.
The collaboration aims not only to enhance the learning experience, but also to integrate educational achievements directly into the blockchain, promoting a seamless ‘Learn, Own, Earn’ model that will revolutionize the way educational content is delivered approached and appreciated.
EDU Chain’s primary focus is to foster a comprehensive ecosystem where both students and teachers can interact with decentralized applications (dapps) tailored to educational activities. This initiative is expected to leverage the power of blockchain to record academic milestones and innovate financial solutions within education.
Open Campus will leverage its extensive network of more than 60 educational and Web3 partners with a combined user base of 20 million students. The involvement of these partners will be crucial in nurturing the ecosystem, by developing and deploying dapps on the EDU Chain and thereby enriching the educational landscape.
We are happy to announce that we have received a grant from the Arbitrum Foundation to launch EDU Chain.

Strategic collaboration and technological integration
EDU Chain is being developed as an Arbitrum Orbit Stack L3 Rollup, ensuring that all transactions on this educational blockchain will benefit from the robust security and scalability of Arbitrum’s Layer 2 solutions.
This strategic technical choice underlines the commitment to providing a powerful platform while maintaining alignment with Ethereum’s security protocols. Arbitrum is particularly a leader in Total Value Locked (TVL) among Layer 2 networks, highlighting its capabilities and popularity within the blockchain community.
This new educational blockchain will also benefit from the support of the Arbitrum Foundation Ambassador program. This initiative will expand the creation of educational content by directly linking Open Campus to Arbitrum’s network of ambassadors and associated universities.
The synergy between these entities is expected to dramatically increase the reach and effectiveness of the Open Campus’ educational offering. Notable endorsements from industry leaders such as Yat Siu of Animoca Brands and Nina Rong of the Arbitrum Foundation have further strengthened confidence in EDU Chain’s potential to transform the education sector.
Their combined expertise and support will position EDU Chain at the forefront of education innovation, using blockchain to unlock new opportunities and efficiencies in learning and content delivery.
